Daddy attempts to teach division: "How many plates are here, Liam?" "Two!" "And how many cookies?" "Four!" "Now we divide four cookies, by two plates. Now how many are on each plate?" "Two. But I want five! FIVE!" Maya: "Mine! Mine!" (grabs box, begins taking cookies.)

I attended the funeral today of Ronald Morse. He was the father of a good friend, Carolyn, from high school. He passed away very suddenly, on Christmas Eve. During the services, many people got up to speak of how he touched their lives, and the adjectives used most often were "strong" and "gentle". I have very fond memories of going out crabbing and fishing with him over the course of many years. He was a man of strength and goodness, and his family and friends will miss him dearly. For those that know the family, here is a link to the obituary, which has a guest page.

Holidays 2005

The kidlings were quite excited with the holidays this year. We visited the Rowlands for a Solstice Party to kick off the festivities, then everyone attended the holiday party where Kim works (Princeton Consultants). The party was a great hit, and there were lots of places for the kids to play since it was at a Eating House on the Princeton Campus (turns out college kids and toddlers have a lot in common in terms of diversions, including Frosty the Snowman loaded in the DVD player).

Oma and Oma came up to visit, and helped decorate our tree. We didn't have much room for the tree this year, so we got the smallest one we could find. We also decorated gingerbread trains and a house. We had holiday visits with the Mounts (on Opa's side of the family), and enjoyed seeing the family in Pennsyvlania. We went to see Oma's family very nicely hosted by Scott Kruse at his new house in Browns Mills. It was good to enjoy the holidays with friends and neighbors as well. And it was nice to see cousin Raven and Aunt Gerette down for a brief visit from Boston. [I am currently working on a compilation of holiday pictures; hopefully posted soon.]
